Why does the quoting tool only offer Bronze and Gold (not Silver)?
The quoting tool don't typically feature Silver plans because of something called "silver loading." Since ACA subsidies are calculated based on Silver plan prices, insurance carriers often price Silver plans higher to help cover those subsidies. The result: Gold plans (with better benefits, lower deductibles, and lower copays) end up priced close to or even cheaper than Silver in a lot of areas this year.
Since ICHRA funding usually affects subsidy eligibility, most employees comparing plans through StretchDollar won't benefit from Silver's subsidy advantage anyway. So we focus on the tiers that actually make financial sense: a lower-cost option (similar to Bronze) and a Gold-standard option with lower out-of-pocket costs.
